Sejarah MotoGP
Kejuaraan sepeda motor tingkat dunia pertama kali diselenggarakan tahun 1949 oleh FIM (Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme). Dimana pada saat itu perlombaan yang diadakan adalah kelas 50cc, 125cc, 250cc, 350cc dan 500cc. Sekitar tahun 1950 sampai 1960-an mesin 4 tak menguasai seluruh kelas. Kemudian ditahun 1960-an mesin 2 tak mulai menguasai kelas-kelas kecil dan akhirnya pada 1970-an mesin 2 tak menyingkirkan mesin 4 tak.
Tahun 1983 kelas 350cc dihapuskan, kemudian tahun 1984 kelas 50cc digantikan oleh kelas 80cc namun kemudian kelas inipun dihapus di tahun 1990. Sehingga menyisakan kelas 125 cc, 250cc dan 500cc. Tahun 2002 - 2006 pabrikan diperbolehkan memperbesar kapasitas mesin 4 taknya hingga 990cc di tahun 2007 kapasitas mesin menjadi 800cc. Dengan adanya regulasi tersebut kelas GP500 pun berubah nama menjadi MotoGP dan di tahun 2003 sudah tidak ada lagi mesin 2 tak yang berlaga di kelas MotoGP. Berikut list juara MotoGP hingga saat ini
